Who we are

Our governance

The Biosecurity Commons team receives guidance from three key groups: the Steering Committee, the Technical Advisory Committee, and crucially, our end users.

The Steering Committee plays a dual role. Firstly, it oversees the timely execution and impact of Biosecurity Commons projects. Secondly, it offers strategic counsel to the project manager and team to ensure the platform aligns with the needs of major stakeholders. The Steering Committee includes members from the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC), The Centre of Excellence for Biosecurity Risk Analysis (CEBRA), various state and federal government biosecurity agencies, Research and Development Corporations (RDCs), peak industry groups, and Plant Health Australia.

The Technical Advisory Committee, a casual assembly of technical leaders from the Planet Research Data Commons initiative, provides the Biosecurity Commons team with technical guidance on the platform’s architecture. It also contributes insights on challenges related to the upkeep, development, and enhancement of the platform’s components, software tools, and services.

Most importantly, the enhancements and expansions of the platform are influenced by the end users.
